Hydroplane Museum Director David Williams has been named the new driver of the U-48 unlimited hydroplane. The O'Farrell & Cheetum owned boat will be unveiled Friday in Tri-Cities, WA with a brand new paint job.

Williams got in qualification laps in 2006 in the cockpit of Ken Muscatel's U-2.25.

UPDATED: "We are disappointed it was taken away from us," said U-37 driver Jean Theoret. "They changed the rules," said U-37 team owner Billy Schumacher, "and outlawed our skid fin." Last year, the U-37 had a skid fin with a more concave center. Schumacher said it give it great handling in the turns. More >>
