Seattle, WASH - The woman who lost an arm and a leg and nearly died at the Madison race when a teenager drove his car into the crowd was honored at the ABRA annual Awards ceremony. She was named Fan of the Year, along with Marc Perrier of Valleyfield, Quebec.
Accepting the award on her behalf was Steve David, driver of the Madison-owned U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto. "Jennifer died numerous time on a operating table," David said.
Her ordeal has put a lot of things in perspective, David said; she's forgiven the teenager who caused the damage. "You see Jen, who knows nothing but faith and love," he said. "She's back in Madison because of the faith she has."
Michael Bowen is charged with being under the influence of marijuana and huffing freon that led to the accident.
