Despite some scary moments on the race course and some damage to the U-6, it looks like Oh Boy! Oberto will be ready to go for Valleyfield.
"The repairs are finished!!" exclaims the U-6 website. "The hole behind the skid fin has been fiberglassed and painted and the rudder has been replaced. The team worked so hard that one of the items on the "to do list", under "Need:" was SLEEP!! Way to go team!"
At Madison, the U-6 hit something in the water with the rudder and took the fastest left turn anyone's ever seen. The boat jerked violently to the left and crossed through the roostertail of the U-3 Master Tire. It happened right in front of the start/finish boat on the inside of the course - too close for comfort.
U-6 driver Steve David walked away un-harmed and laughed it off in his usual light-hearted manner. The accident bent the skid fin and ripped out a bracket.
