Tipster Helps SPD Arrest Wanted Fugitive

SPOKANE, Wash. - Thanks to a tip, Spokane Police Detectives tracked down and arrested a wanted fugitive today {Friday}. The Spokane Police Department welcomes tips from the public and will follow up on reported tips in an effort to reduce crime in Spokane. Detectives of Spokane Police Special Investigations Unit (SIU) received a tip that a wanted person, Marquis A. Jackson (7/8/81) was frequenting 49 E. Pine Ridge Ct. in North Spokane.  Detectives conducted surveillance on the location until a subject matching Jackson's description got in a vehicle at that location.  Detectives continued mobile surveillance and positively identified Jackson. 

Jackson was stopped in a car at Division and Francis by a Patrol K-9 and SIU Detectives.  He was arrested without incident this afternoon at 2pm.

Jackson was wanted on a warrant for Second Degree Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  Jackson has previous felony convictions for Drive by Shooting, Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.  Jackson has fifteen local felony arrests from 2001 to 2012 and numerous misdemeanor arrests. 

Jackson was with Benjamin J. Campbell (8/14/66). Campbell was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
