YAKIMA, Wash.-- A drag race down a busy street in Yakima sent one woman and her child to the hospital today.
Officers say it happened around 11:30 this morning.
They say two cars were racing down Nob Hill Boulevard at high speeds.
A mother and her child were pulling out of the Burger King parking lot near 26th Avenue, when the racers crashed into the woman's car, sending it skidding across the street.
One of the drag racers drove away from the scene before police arrived.
However, they were able to find the car a few hours later, thanks to a tip from a young boy who saw the car driving away.
"He had taken a picture of it on his iPad, and actually was able to identify the second vehicle that was unknown to us, as he captured the license plate on the vehicle," says Yakima Police Captain Rod Light.
Officers have the two drivers in custody, but they wouldn't release their names or ages.
Police say the child was seated on the side of the car that was hit.
They say both the child and mother are in stable condition in the hospital.
