OLYMPIA, Wash. - The Senate approved a measure Tuesday to create a stalking protection order.
The measure was created after a an elementary school teacher in Tacoma was killed in 2010 by a man under an anti-harassment order to stay away from her.
The bill creates a new petition for a stalking protection order for any person who does not qualify for a domestic violence protection order. A violation of a stalking protection or no-contact order would be considered a gross misdemeanor.
