Two German hostages held by Columbian Rebels since November were turned over to the German Embassy and Representatives of Columbia's government on Friday.
The hostages were transferred by helicopter from a jungle location to an airport, according to the Red Cross.
The hostages were held by the National Liberation Army or E-L-N, who said they were captured near the border with Venezuela.
E-L-N said the two men were considered to be intelligence agents because they could not explain why they were in the area, but the German government said they were just tourists traveling through South America.
Last month, the Columbian Government authorized a committee of civilians and Red Cross officials to talk to the Guerillas about releasing the hostages.
