OLYMPIA, Wash. - State lawmakers are already starting to count on revenue from marijuana sales.
The state House approved a bill Wednesday night that would use marijuana tax revenue to expand early learning.
Marijuana remains illegal under federal law, and federal officials have not yet decided whether to dry and block implementation of the legalization measure. Washington is moving ahead with plans to develop a network of state-licensed growers, processors, and retailers.
Democrat Rep. Ruth Kagi says she can't think of a better use for the money while Republican Rep. Gary Alexander says it is too early to start dedicating marijuana dollars because the state doesn't know how much it will raise.
