Pe Ell fends off Onalaska

Posted: Updated:

The Pe Ell girls basketball team fended off a late Onalaska run to advance to the semifinals of the State B Tournament with a 41-37 win on Thursday at Spokane Arena.

Onalaska used a late 7-0 run to get within a point, 35-34, but Pe Ell got a putback layup by Mattie Miller and played good enough defense down the stretch for the victory.

Despite being down 22-21 at half, the Trojans used a 9-1 run out of halftime to take a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Sami Robinson led Pe Ell with a game-high 19 points and seven rebounds. Autumn Druand scored 12 points for Onalaska.

Pe Ell advances to the semifinals to face Northwest Christian at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, while Onalaska drops into a consolation bracket game against Napavine at 2:00 p.m.
