The Northwest Christian girls basketball team beat Lake
Roosevelt by more than 30 points to get into the State B Tournament. That
performance carried over to a commanding 60-35 win over Napavine on Thursday in
a girls 2B first-round tournament game.
The Crusaders never trailed in the contest, going on an
early 8-0 run that spanned the first and second quarters to push their lead to
18-10. Behind a steady diet of inside looks and an impressive display of
passing, Northwest Christian never let down.
Courtney Gray led the Crusaders with 14 points on 5-of-6
shooting from the field and 4-of-5 from the line. Chanel Knight and Hannah
Dietzen added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Kalli Brown paced Napavine with 11 points, including two
treys, but the Tigers turned the ball over 22 times.
Northwest Christian advances to a 9:00 p.m. game Friday,
while Napavine drops to a 2:00 p.m. contest the consolation bracket.
