Down by a point heading into the final quarter, the
Morton-White Pass girls basketball team outscored DeSales 12-7 in the fourth
for a 35-31 girls 2B State Tournament win.
Both teams struggled from the field, with Morton-White Pass
shooting 22 percent (9-of-41) and DeSales 25 percent (12-of-48). The difference
came from the free-throw line, where the Timberwolves hit 88.2 percent (15-of-17)
of their attempts.
Morton-White Pass got offensive contributions from just
three players, Whitney Elledge (12 points), Ashley Kelly (12) and Lina
Hieronymi (11).
Teresa Acock and Molli Lesko had eight point apiece for the
Irish.
Morton-White Pass advances to a 7:15 p.m. game on Friday,
while DeSales drops into the loser's bracket with a 12:15 p.m. contest.
