Kennewick City Council Accepting Applications for Vacant Seat
KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Kennewick City Council is now taking applications for the vacant council position, representing Ward 2.
Whoever the city appoints as the seat will serve for the remainder of 2013. Mayor Pro Tem Sharon Brown was recently appointed to the State Senate, leaving the position open.
To apply, applicants must be 18 or older, a registered voter, and a resident of Kennewick for at least one year. They must currently live in Ward 2: generally located between Union Street and Olympia Street, north of West 19th Avenue and between Union Street and South Vancouver Street south of W. 19th Avenue. Once the council receives all the applications, council members say they plan to interview the candidates at a special meeting in March. At that point, they plan to select one to fill the vacancy.
City Council is accepting applications now through Friday, March 1st at 5 PM. You can pick up an application at the City Clerk's office at 210 West 6th Avenue, Kennewick WA 99336 or go to www.go2kennewick.com.
