Avoid Becoming A Car Theft Victim With Advice From Deputy Craig; Crime Tracker Kalae Chock Reports

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane County Sheriff's Office says car prowling is on the rise and car theft is a continuing problem. However, Sheriff's Deputy Craig Chamberlain says there are things we can do to deter thieves. He tells KHQ Crime Tracker Kalae Chock that an alarm system or even The Club is a visual deterrent that often leads thieves to avoid your vehicle.

Keeping expensive electronics, purses and other valuables in your vehicle is "just asking for it", says Deputy Chamberlain. He also says keeping a garage door opener inside your car is a bad idea because it can serve as a key into your house.

The information he offers up might seem like common sense, but Deputy Craig says it's important to reiterate these reminders as long as car thefts and prowlings continue.
