YAKIMA, Wash-- More high school students are graduating in Yakima.
New data shows a nearly 3% increase in the number of kids that who earned diplomas in 2012, bringing the district's average to just over 68%. But, that's still below the 2011 state average of almost 77%.
Unfortunately, it's not all good news.
The district says almost 25% of students dropped out of high school during the 2011-2012 school year. That number is up about 7% from the previous year, and almost double the state dropout average in 2011.
