KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Tri-Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau is concerned there may not enough space in Kennewick's Three Rivers Convention Center.
The convention center is home to many high profile events every year and Visitor's Bureau President Kris Watkins says those events could start outgrowing the convention center.
"The Tri-Cities is a great place to come and hold a convention, and because of that, their delegate numbers continue to grow. What we'd like to do is grow right along with them," Watkins said.
Watkins says the convention center needs to be expanded to maintain the current conventions, and to also draw new ones.
The Kennewick City Council has discussed a sales tax increase to pay for an expansion and plans for an adjacent hotel are in the works.
