KENNEWICK, Wash. -- It was a once in a lifetime experience that a Kennewick attorney and his family will never forget. George Fearing got to case one of Washington state's 12 electoral college votes, and was invited to see the inauguration live.
Fearing, his teenage son George and girlfriend made the trip to DC on Thursday January 17th. He said the most exciting part was watching the hundreds of thousands of people fill the National Mall during the swearing in ceremony. Fearing said their seats were about 50 yards away from the president.
"I never expected in my lifetime that there would be an African American president. and I am so delighted that it happened in my lifetime. and that I was part of that experience in being one of the electors," he said.
Fearing says he didn't get to attend the inaugural ball, but he did go to the Washington State Ball and the Green Ball which was attended by vice president Joe Biden and Washington Governor Jay Inslee.
