PASCO, Wash. – The
defense lawyer representing Franklin County's former public works accounting
manager has indicated Dennis Huston might accept a plea deal.
Huston is charged with
theft and money laundering. Prosecutors say he stole more than one-and-a-half
million dollars from Franklin County over his 20-year career.
Defense attorney John Jensen
Friday told the judge the case could be resolved before the trial.
The prosecutor for the state attorney general confirms he has offered
Huston a plea agreement. He says Huston has until the end of the month to
accept the offer and avoid a jury trial in March.
