The Spokane Chiefs saw a three goal third period rally fall short as the Kelowna Rockets held on for a 5-3 win over Spokane Wednesday night in Kelowna, B.C. The season series between the two teams is now tied at 1-1.

Kelowna would get a Ryan Olsen power play goal 3:03 into the game to take a 1-0  lead after one. The Rockets would score three goals in the first 11:05 of the second to take a 4-0 lead after two. Kelowna outshot Spokane 23-11 through two periods.

Spokane would get on the board at 10:16 of the third period on Todd Fiddler's team leading 29th goal of the year to make it a 4-1 game. Alessio Bertaggia, who was making his Chiefs debut, scored his first goal for Spokane shorthanded at 16:36 to get the Chiefs within 4-2. Bertaggia would then score 1:23 later on the power play to get Spokane to 4-3, but Zach Franko's empty net goal with 1:02 left sealed the win for Kelowna.

Kelowna outshot Spokane 33-20 in the contest, while the Chiefs went 1-2 on the power play and 5-6 on the penalty kill. The two teams will meet at the Spokane Arena Friday night at 7:05pm. Mike Boyle will have the call on 1510 KGA beginning at 6:30pm.
