KENNEWICK, Wash., -- Traffic collisions were down 9% overall in 2012 for the city of Kennewick according to the Kennewick Police Traffic Unit.
Officers focused on speed violations, red light violations and cell phone violations which lead to distracted driving.
The results of those efforts showed a 9% decrease in reported collisions at the intersections just along Columbia Center Boulevard; one of the more frequently busy areas in the Tri-Cities.
Police say a 9% decrease is significant because of the growing number of new streets, businesses and drivers.
