New Database Helps Kennewick Police Return Stolen Items

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - A new online database can help make sure your valuables stay in your possession.

The Kennewick Police Department has joined the ReportIt online system. People living in Kennewick can create a free account, and then store serial numbers, model numbers and descriptions of things like TV, laptops, or anything else that could be stolen.

Then, when officers recover stolen property, that information could help them get it back to the rightful owner.

"Put all that information in there so in the event that it is taken, in this system, all you would do it go in, log in, give it to the investigating officer, and that gives that officer the opportunity recover that merchandise," said Mike Blatman from the Kennewick Police Department.

The ReportIt database is free, and secure. The only way the information will be seen, is if the owner of stolen property prints out the details and gives it to officers during an investigation.

To create an account, head to www.go2Kennewick.com and click on any of the police department pages. Then look for the ReportIt icon will be on the lower left corner of the page.
