KENNEWICK, Wash. - If you celebrate with some adult beverages on New Year's Eve, there are still ways you can get home safely, and avoid drinking and driving.
For a discounted fee, (plus tax) several towing companies will bring you and your car home.
In the Tri-Cities, Rad Towing charges $60 dollars for a tow, and Action Auto Services charges $85. Both companies tow to anywhere in the Tri-Cities and surrounding towns. Workers say they'll go to Walla Walla and Prosser, but people may have to pay additional amounts based on mileage. In Yakima, Dude Where's My Car Towing is offering a 25% off discount tonight.
Drivers say getting your car towed is an easy alternative to avoiding a costly DUI.
"If you're gonna drive and drink, it's gonna cost you thousands and thousands of dollars," said Lou Knight, a tow truck driver for Rad Towing, "plus probably jail time, lose your license. This way you just get to keep everything, and it's pocket change compared to the alternative."
If you don't plan to bring a car out tonight, you can always call a cab. Rad Cab in the Tri-Cities says it's a good idea to call ahead and secure a time slot, just call (509) 585-2944.
- Rad Towing (509) 585-4003...... $65
- Action Auto Services* (509) 545-1230..... $80
*offers DUI-alternative tows year round.
- Dude Where's My Car (509) 249-5440...... 25% OFF
