KENNEWICK, Wash.
A downtown Kennewick restaurant is serving up more than just meals this holiday season.
In the middle of Sandstone Cafe stands the Tree of Needs, with names of kids the restaurant adopted for Christmas. The information comes from local organizations like SARC and the Union Gospel Mission.
"For every child we get an information sheet on, we put together 3 envelopes and then we put them on a tree. In those envelopes, would be their needs, whatever they need," said Sandstone Cafe Owner James Ortega.
On Christmas, Ortega and his chef will close the restaurant to serve dinner to the 76 children and their families. There are about 30 cards still left on the tree , and they're asking the community to stop by this weekend and help them make the holidays special for a local child.
Sandstone Cafe is located at 104 W. 1st Ave in Kennewick.
