Kittitas County, WASH.--The Kittitas County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible homicide, after state troopers discovered a dead body in the back of a vehicle Friday morning near Roza Dam.
The Kittitas County Sheriff said it's still very early in the investigation, and there's not much information at this time.
Currently, the Kittitas County Sheriff's Major Crimes Unit is investigating what deputies are calling a "death investigation."
Shortly after 9 a.m. Friday, Washington State Patrol went to check on a car that had veered off the roadway in Yakima Canyon.
Troopers found one middle-aged man in the back of the car dead from a gunshot wound.
"Deputies are processing the scene, looking for evidence," Kittitas County Sheriff Gene Dana said. "We'll be taking measurements, fingerprints, anything else we can find."
Investigators have not released the victims name yet, but he's believed to be a Yakima resident.
The sheriff said they're still working to identify him, and then they have to notify his family.
The sheriff also said they are currently processing a search warrant for the vehicle, and an autopsy has been scheduled.
At this time there are no suspects.
KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. - The Kittitas County Sheriff's Major Crimes Unit is investigating what deputies say appears to be a murder.
Deputies say this morning, Washington State Patrol Troopers found a body in the backseat of a car on the side of the road. Troopers believe the person had been shot to death.
Investigators haven't told us the victim's name or gender, but they believe the person lived in Yakima.
Deputies say they are in the early stages of the investigation, but will bring us more information as they learn more.
