It isn't every day you get two rivals from the Canadian Football League to sit down with one another for a friendly chat. That is, unless the two rivals are former teammates and friends.

Recently, former Eastern Washington stars Bo Levi Mitchell and JC Sherritt sat down for an interview with SWX. Mitchell, a backup quarterback, played with Calgary. Sherritt, with Edmonton, recently won the league's Most Outstanding Defensive Player award.

It is obvious there is a lot of respect between the two young men.

"It was funny the first time seeing him out there under center, going at each other," said Sherritt about his former teammate. "It's one of those things…. You wish those guys the best and you wish to beat them every single time you play them."

"[Sherritt] is one of those guys that you're very happy he's not going against you," said Mitchell. "You watch him in practice, you see everything he does, you see him in a game, and it's like – man , I'm glad I'm not playing against him. So, lining up under center for a one-yard quarterback sneak and seeing him right there is like, ‘man, I can't let him make this tackle!'"

Mitchell may get his shot at a starting job with Calgary next year if current quarterback Kevin Glenn does not return. Sherritt just signed a new deal with Edmonton that will keep him in his place for the next three years.
