WAC to Add Texas-Pan American in 2013

Updated:

The Western Athletic Conference added an eighth school on Wednesday, as Texas-Pan American accepted an invitation to join in 2013.

Texas Pan-American joins Cal State Bakersfield, Chicago State, Grand Canyon, Idaho, New Mexico State, Seattle and Utah Valley. The Broncos will bring all 14 of its sports to the conference, including men's and women's basketball.

"The addition of the University of Texas-Pan American adds another important piece to the rebuilding of the Western Athletic Conference," said WAC Interim Commissioner Jeff Hurd in a news release. "UTPA brings a program with 60 years of history and success, and we look forward to the Broncos competing at a high level in the WAC."

Idaho has said it will leave the WAC after the 2013-14 season. That will once again leave the conference with seven members.
