SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. -  The Washington State Patrol is investigating a crash that left a tow truck driver dead at the summit of Snoqualmie Pass.

Troopers say Sunday afternoon, 46-year-old Jason Halstead of North Bend died when he got out his tow truck to help 28-year-old Bowen Staples of Bonney Lake, whose pickup truck was stuck in the snow on the right shoulder of westbound Interstate 90.

Troopers say that's when 50-year-old Thomas Kamla from Newcastle drove by in the left lane, lost control and slid across all the lanes of traffic, hitting the pickup truck and killing the tow truck driver.

The other two people weren't hurt in the accident.
