KENNEWICK, Wash. - Two suspects are behind bars after police spotted them inside a stolen car on Thursday.
A Kennewick Police Officer said he saw a man driving a 1992 Honda Accord, stolen in the area of 4th Avenue and Kent Street, with two other female passengers. The officer said he attempted to pull the car over but the driver sped off.
The officer followed the car through Kennewick to State Route 397 eventually getting on I-82 westbound. Washington State Troopers continued the pursuit on I-82 and were able to stop the car just east of the Clearwater exit.
Police booked the driver, 31-year-old Roman Estrada, into the Benton County Jail. He faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, auto theft, and attempting to elude police.
Officers also arrested the two girls inside the car. They booked the 17-year-old into the Benton County Juvenile Justice Center on a juvenile warrant and released the other girl.
Investigators say the car belonged to Jose Mendoza who reported his car was stolen the night before.
