Yakima, WASH. - People in Yakima could see their Parks and Recreation fees go up next month.
The Yakima City Council will vote Tuesday night whether or not to charge more for recreation programs and facility rentals.
The city said the costs to operate these services are growing, and fees need to be raised in order to maintain them.
The city has not increased recreation costs since 2008.
"I know we've lost a lot of the public pools and stuff so it would be nice to make sure we at least keep what we have left. Then also to maintain the parks, especially in this area {downtown}. They're kind of not very well maintained,"said Kristin Gumz, who lives in Yakima.
The fee increases will not apply to Fisher Park Golf Course. Overall, this is expected to generate a little over $43,000 a year.
