KGH Hits Major Milestone

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Kennewick General Hospital at Southridge hit a major milestone on Wednesday.

Crews put the final, large steel beam in place during a topping off ceremony this morning.

The facility is set to open in the spring of 2014 but construction workers said they are a little ahead of schedule.

"This is just a continuation of us being able to serve the community with a state of the art modern facility that's well sized, right sized for our services and at the same time we have 40 acres out here which will give us plenty of room to grow and expand in the future," said Glen Marshall, CEO of Kennewick General Hospital.

Dozens of KGH employees got a chance to sign the final beam before crews put it into place this morning.
