Same Sex Marriage License Lottery - NBC Right Now/KNDO/KNDU Tri-Cities, Yakima, WA |

OLYMPIA, Wash. - The first same-sex couples in Washington State may marry this week. The Thurston County Auditor drew the ten lucky couples' names in a lottery.

When the same sex marriage law goes in effect Thursday morning, the auditor will issue those couples their marriage licenses.

Washington State Law requires all couples wait three days after applying for a license to get married, making December 9th the first day same sex couples can marry.
