Family Food Drive a success in Kennewick!

KENNEWICK, Wash. - This year's food drive was not only full of fun and festivities but a big success. Many generous community members opened their wallets and their pantries to give to the food drive.

At the KNDU studios there was over 10,000 pounds of food donated and nearly $10,000 in cash, as well.

Those will make in impact in helping the surprisingly large number of local families facing hunger. One out of seven people in Benton and Franklin Counties is without enough food.

"Better ensures that we will be able to deliver enough food to the thousands of people right now who are in need of food assistance every single day through the approximately 55 neighborhood food banks that we serve," said Melissa Cloninger of Second Harvest.

Those 55 food banks serve close to 55,000 people every moth and during the holidays and winter months, more people tend to rely on food banks.
