YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Yakima Valley Veterinary Clinic put on an emergency pet care training class Thursday night for local firefighters and first responders.
Firefighters from six different agencies practiced pet first aid at the training class. Several topics were covered, such as: Smoke inhalation, Oxygen administration, Animal CPR, Safe
handling and restraint, Hyper/hypothermia, Transport.
This was an opportunity for area responders to interact with animals and increase awareness of animal care in emergencies.
The Yakima Valley Veterinary Clinic has been collecting
donations from clients and staff and purchased 13 sets of Pet O2 masks to
distribute to over 8 different fire departments throughout the valley.
