RICHLAND, Wash. -- Thursday was the last day of practice before traveling to the Tacoma Dome. Liberty Christian needs one more win for the 1B state football title. The top seed Patriots will face the two seed Neah Bay Red Devils. Saturday's 1B match-up kicks off at 4 p.m. Liberty Christian hopes to knock off the defending champs in its first year of eligibility since switching to 1B.
"Well I'm real excited. We got some seniors and other kids that didn't have the opportunity to qualify for the playoffs the last two years. So they've been pointing to this year as the year that they could do it," head coach Mike Olson, Sr. said.
"It's cool we've been kind of planning this since we were sophomores. We had undefeated season that year. We thought when we're seniors we might have a chance to go the state championship. It's cool to see that come together," quarterback Mike Olson, Jr. added.
