SEATTLE,Wash. - A Lummi tribal member who was frustrated with his baby daughter's crying squeezed her head with his right arm between his bicep and forearm.
The 6-month-old died in May of skull fractures and brain bleeding.
The U.S. attorney's office in Seattle said 23-year-old Lawrence V. Tom pleaded guilty this week in federal court to manslaughter and faces up to 10 years in prison. He will be sentenced in March.
The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted in federal court because the death took place on the Lummi reservation.
