Local ski mountains close to opening, but need more snow

White Pass Ski Resort.--Thanksgiving has come and gone, but the local ski mountains remain closed.

Kevin McCarthy, the General Manager of White Pass Ski Resort said they were hoping to be open by the holiday, but the snow just didn't come.

White Pass is currently making snow, but McCarthy said they need a heavy snowfall to cover the base of the mountain.

"We're close, we're close," McCarthy said. "Hopefully mother nature will help us out the end of this week, into next week."

McCarthy said if White Pass Ski Mountain isn't open by this Saturday or Sunday, the next weekend looks encouraging.

A spokesperson for Ski Bluewood said they hope to be open by December 8th or 9th as well.
