PASCO, Wash. - Scores of people showed up for the annual Turkey Bowl at Chiawana High School in Pasco. Every year, a number of the football games are held all over the Tri-Cities.
The one at Chiawana, though, is arguably the largest. Players held three different games at the school's athletic complex.
NBC Right Now talked with one father and son duo who were the first on the field Thursday morning.
J.B. Lopez had a star moment when he caught an interception in his first Turkey Bowl appearance.
"No {not a touchdown} I just caught it and then they got me. I tried to run," J.B. said.
"We establish right off the bat that it's two hand touch. I think some guys would prefer tackle but if it's tackle then I'm leaving because I want to enjoy my turkey later on," said his father Jesse Lopez.
Aside from being two-hand touch, the games really are friendly. Lopez said the regulars get to know one another and sometimes only see each other once a year... at the Turkey Bowl.
