PULLMAN, Wash. -

When Washington State takes the field on Friday in the 105th Apple Cup game against Washington they will have one target in particular on their mind: former Cougar recruit, Bishop Sankey.

Sankey has emerged as a formidable threat in the Washington offense this season. But before he became a Husky he had verbally committed to play in Pullman.

"They have Bishop Sankey, who everybody knows committed here," said Cougar safety Deone Buccanon. "So, everyone wants to hit him. We're going to go out there and we're going to play him as hard as we possibly can."

Sankey, now a sophomore in Seattle, isn't worried about playing in Pullman. The former star at Spokane's Gonzaga Prep has run for 1,150 yards this season – fifth best in the Pac-12. He has carried the ball 86 times in just the past three games. He told the Seattle Times he doesn't expect more than the usual verbal sparring from the Washington State faithful on Friday.
