Charles Dicken's classic novella will be presented in a traditional staging with a cast of 40
Modesto, CA (PRWEB) November 17, 2012
Modesto's oldest community theatre company, Modesto Performing Arts, will partner with the Gallo Center for the Arts to present a traditional staging of the holiday classic, "A Christmas Carol," on Saturday December 1 at 2 pm and 7:30 pm, and Sunday, December 2 at 2 pm. The lavish production features a cast of 40 local actors.
Based on the novella by Charles Dickens, "A Christmas Carol" tells the story of the redemption of Ebeneezer Scrooge, a miser who abhors Christmas and all humankind including his employee, Bob Crachit, and his family. On Christmas Eve, he is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. The revelations shown to Scrooge by the ghosts reveal that he really does have a heart after all.
“This production is a faithful adaptation of the book,” says director Paul Tischer, founder of 46-year old Modesto Performing Arts. “Much of the dialog comes directly from the book. And the settings and the costumes will be faithful to the London of the Victorian era. It is not a musical, although there are Christmas carols sung throughout the play. It’s a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.”
"A Christmas Carol" is sponsored by The Jallo Group-Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. The Gallo Center for the Arts’ 2012-13 Premier Partner is Boyett Petroleum.
