HERMISTON, Ore., -- NBC Right Now and Kadlec Regional Medical Center honor another teacher as part of our "Classroom Makeover" program.
Each month parents and students will nominate a teacher who's classroom deserves money for a makeover.
Julie Hatch is a kindergarten teacher at West Park Elementary School in Hermiston.
NBC Right Now's Mike Linden and Jim Hall from Kadlec presented her with a $500 check this morning to use on school supplies.
"Teaching is really a calling for her. Not unlike the people who work in a hospital, a nurse and a doctor," says Jim Hall. "It's really a calling for them to help other people."
"We have a Grandma reading program and we need small books for them to take home; it's like a small library," says Julie Hatch. "We need to redo that library. So we'll be buying many, many new books."
