KENNEWICK, Wash. - A local clinic for low income and uninsured patients held a ribbon cutting event today to show off its new home.
Grace Clinic moved into the former Benton Franklin Health District building on Canal Drive earlier this year.
The clinic started in 2002 to help meet the medical needs of people who have virtually no access to health care other than the emergency room.
"We do that work principally with volunteers, with support out of the community. But we have a growing number of people in the community that don't have insurance and don't have access to health care," said Mark Brault, the President of Grace Clinic.
Volunteers donated more than 22,000 hours of time to the clinic last year. They see patients on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Over the last year, the clinic has treated more than 6,500 patients.
