VANCOUVER, Wash. - A young couple living in Clark County is taking the "food stamp challenge," and living on a food budget of $8 a day for the two of them for a week.
Audrey Williams is a nutrition educator and works at the Clark County Food Bank. She and her husband Connor are both 22 and recent graduates of Seattle Pacific University. Conner has a degree in ecology and is looking for work.
The couple says they're taking the challenge in observance of National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week, November 10 through 18.
As of July, 47 million people in the country, 1.1 million in Washington were depending on the SNAP program.
