MATTAWA, Wash. - A Grant County man is behind bars after police arrested him Saturday on suspicion of sexually assaulting one of his children.
Grant County Deputies say they responded to a phone call around 8:30pm after a woman said her child had been raped at a home in Mattawa. Deputies say the woman and her husband had been in a domestic violence incident earlier that day and she had fled to a nearby relative's home to get help.
Deputies say when she returned, she found that her daughter (under the age of 10) had been sexually assaulted.
Deputies say when they arrived at the house and tried to arrest the man, he initially refused to open the door. Once inside, the man still did not cooperate when deputies say they tasered him twice to subdue him. The suspect is now in the Grant County Jail on suspicion of first degree rape of a child.
The girl was rushed to a Yakima hospital where she underwent surgery for her injuries. Another child living in the home was also taken to a Yakima hospital for unspecified injuries.
