Zillah, WASH.--As we head into the winter months, one of the booming industries in the Yakima Valley starts to slow down.
Staff at Hyatt Vineyards in Zillah said they've seen a decline in customers and sales.
Staffers said they don't get a lot of foot traffic from November to December. In fact, they said it really doesn't start to pick up again until April during Spring Barrel Tasting.
"People are now getting back to work," said Janet Hutchinson, a staff member at Hyatt Vineyards. "In the winter, not getting away on vacations, kids are back in school, roads are getting a little worse. So people are not getting out as much as they were."
Hyatt Vineyards stays open all year round since they have a distribution center. But staffers said the smaller wineries will typically close down during the winter months.
