STANFIELD, Ore. - City and Public Health officials are asking people at the Pilot Truck Stop and the Pilot RV Park to boil water until further notice. Drinking water from the city of Stanfield is NOT at risk.
The Health Department says the well at Pilot Truck Stop tested positive for E. Coli on November 8th, a bacteria that can make people sick. The city is working to resolve the issue and hopes to correct the problem in the next day or two.
Health officials say people at an increased risk for serious complications include infants, young children, and people with severely compromised immune systems.
The symptoms to watch for include diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headache, or other signs of general malaise. If you experience any of these symptoms, please contact your health care provider.
The Health Department recommends the following:
· Do not drink the water without boiling it first.
· Let the water come to a rolling boil for one minute, let it cool before using or use bottled water.
· Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice cubes, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation until further notice.
· If you experience any of the symptoms mentioned above and they persist, seek medical advice.
