ATHENA, Ore. - The Oregon Department of Transportation says a small airplane made an emergency landing on Highway 11 around 1 p.m. Thursday. It happened in Athena about 17 miles east of Pendleton, near mile post 17. Troopers closed the highway for a while so the plane could be moved off the main highway. Highway 11 was closed again before 2 p.m. for a short time to allow the plane to take off. No word on what caused the emergency landing.
