Union Gap, WASH.--If these early voting results hold up, the Mayor of Union Gap will not be finishing his full term.
Tuesday's results show voters deciding to change the city's form of government from the current strong mayor style to a council-manager form, similar to that of Yakima.
Right now, Proposition One is passing with 55 percent of the vote.
Mayor Jim Lemon said he's fine with these results.
"This is a lot of weight off my shoulders," said Lemon. "As a council member, it's pretty easy to vote for what you want and try to play games."
If Proposition One does pass, Lemon will continue his role as mayor until the first of January. Then he will finish his last three years as a councilman.
Lemon has been serving as mayor for five years and he said he's not sure what the council has in store for the city. He also added that losing the mayor's veto power could have some negative impacts.
Union Gap's search for a city manager will begin right away.
