PASCO, Wash. - A series of identity thefts have led Burlington Northern Santa Fe officials to believe their employee records have been compromised.
At least one person in the Tri-Cities fell victim to the scam. Kennewick Police say a PayPal account was opened under a BNSF employee's name and nearly $2,000 in purchases were racked up.
Burlington officials are being tight lipped about the investigation, though.
"My statement is BNSF will look into this matter further," said Director of Public Affairs Gus Melonas.
A number of BNSF employees have allegedly had the same thing happen to them. Victims are asked to report the fraud to their local police departments but as Melonas said, BNSF is conducting their own investigation.
