KENNEWICK, Wash. - An Oregon man is behind bars after allegedly selling stolen coins in the Tri-Cities.
38-year-old Daniel Roy Walchli of Hermiston agreed to provide an Oregon senior citizen companionship. Police said when visiting, he brought another woman who distracted the senior citizen while Walchli stole several valuable gold coins.
Officers said Walchli then came to the Tri-Cities on October 24th and sold the coins to a local coin dealer. The Morrow County Sheriff was able to locate the gold coins and the business put them on hold.
Police said Walchli then returned to sell more gold coins when the business called the police. Officers then arrested him for unrelated warrants.
After being questioned, detectives said Walchli admitted to selling the gold coins but claimed the woman who had been at the house with him, gave him the coins before visiting.
Walchli was initially arrested for unrelated warrants and is also facing charges of trafficking stolen property.
