Wapato School District on Lockdown This Morning

Posted: Updated:

WAPATO, Wash. -- The Wapato School District went into a modified lockdown early this morning after police informed them of a potentially dangerous situation.

A school district spokesperson says police were looking for a suicidal person somewhere in town. Students were not allowed to leave school buildings between 9 and 11 this morning.

"Nothing was happening on school grounds as far as the situation out there. It was a precautionary movement to ensure the safety of all our students," said Wapato High School Principal Eric Diener.

The school district did not have any problems during the lock down and says they have a good working relationship with the police.
