YAKIMA, Wash.-- Today a Yakima County judge sentenced a woman accused of assaulting her grandson in law to six months of home surveillance.
Dalores Taylor was arrested in April after attempting to slit her grandson-in-law's throat with a razor.
Her granddaughter died a few days before the incident of an insulin overdose. Taylor was originally charged with attempted murder, but plead guilty to second-degree assault last month.
"I think it's just a good reminder for all of us that, you know, there's breaking points that we all have to be aware of, that we can face, that can lead us to some very bad decisions," says Judge Ruth Reukauf.
Prosecutors say they offered the more lenient plea deal because Taylor's attack on her grandson in law was "unlikely to succeed". They don't think Taylor will repeat what she did.
